The plane carrying Secretary of State Rubio was forced to return to Washington before traveling to Europe
WASHINGTON (AP) – Air Force aircraft carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch went to Germany to attend the Munich security conference, and after formulating mechanical issues, they were Forced to return to Washington.
“Tonight, the planes flying from Washington to Munich have experienced mechanical problems,” said State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce.
“The plane has turned around and is returning to the United Base Andrews,” she said. “The secretary intends to continue traveling to Germany and the Middle East in an independent air flight.”

What an official said was related to the cockpit windshield on the C-32, the remodeled Boeing 757, happened about 90 minutes after the plane took off from Andrews’ joint base outside Washington.
Although Rubio plans to resume his journey on a new plane, it is unclear whether the delay will lead him to miss a Friday morning meeting with Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
