Will Smith recalls drug-induced vision of his career and fortune being destroyed, plus more news

Will Smith says he saw his career, money ‘flying away’ while taking ayahuasca

In an interview shot months before his now-infamous Oscars slap and subsequent fallout, Will Smith revealed he once had a vision of his career and fortune being destroyed. Speaking to David Letterman in January for the Netflix series, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” Will recalled a psychedelic experience he had while drinking ayahuasca, a plant-based psycho-active brew used by communities in South America for spiritual purposes. “I drank, and it usually takes about 45 minutes to kick in,” he explains in the episode. “So, I’m drinking and sitting there, and then all of a sudden, it’s like I start seeing all my money flying away, and my house is flying away, and my career is going away. My whole life is getting destroyed.” Will later confirmed to Dave that the vision was about his “fear in real life” of losing those things — some of which has lost as a result of storming onstage at the 2022 Academy Awards and slapping Chris Rock for making a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. As Will told Dave in the interview, it wasn’t until he heard his daughter, Willow Smith, crying for him to help her that his perspective changed. “Slowly, I stopped caring about my money, I just wanted to get to Willow,” Will said, still recalling the trip. “I stopped caring about my house, about my career. … I still hear Willow screaming. My money is still flying away, but I’m going …,” he continued, taking a series of deep breaths. “When I came out of it, I realized that anything that happens in my life, I can handle it,” he concluded. “I can handle any person that I lose, I can handle anything that goes wrong in my life, I can handle anything in my marriage.” The experience also taught him that “99 percent of the s*** you worry about never happens … your pain and your misery is all self-generated, it’s not real,” he added. In his apology for “the slap,” Will said he felt compelled to defend his family. He’s since resigned from the Academy and been banned from all Academy events, including the Oscars, for 10 years. A number of the star’s professional projects have reportedly been put on hold because of the slap.

Scott Disick jets off to the beach on Kravis’ wedding day

When Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker said “I do” in Italy over the weekend, the bride’s children, Mason, Penelope and Reign Disick, were on hand to help celebrate their mom’s big day. Their dad, meanwhile, put some distance between himself and the wedding festivities. On Sunday, May 22, Scott Disick shared a photo of an airplane window on his Instagram Stories. “Where 2?” he asked in the caption. A second post showed a trip progress screen in what looked like a private jet. With just over four hours of travel time to go, Scott wrote, “Next stop, the beach.” He revealed no further details about his getaway. Scott and Kourtney dated on and off for nearly a decade before they finally called it quits in 2015, but he’s made no secret of his ongoing desire to work things out with his ex. On the 2021 finale of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” Scott even told Kourtney. “I love you and I’m ready to marry you. Right here, right now.” Instead, Kourtney ended up falling for Travis when their long-running friendship turned romantic. The Blink-182 drummer popped the question to Kourtney on the beach in Montecito, California, in October, 2021; the two made it official in Portofino on Sunday.

Halsey’s claim record label won’t release new music without a ‘viral moment on TikTok’ goes viral on TikTok

“I just hate this.” That’s how Halsey responded to their label’s social media marketing demands while discussing the release of a new song over the weekend. The singer, who uses she/they pronouns, shared a pair of TikToks on Sunday, May 22, documenting her claims Capitol Records / Astralwerks won’t let her release the new track without a viral TikTok campaign. In a somewhat perfect moment of meta marketing, Halsey’s TikTok-aired complaints about being forced to “fake a viral moment on TikTok” have — you guessed it — gone viral on TikTok. “Basically, I have a song that I love that I want to release ASAP, but my record label won’t let me,” Halsey wrote on the first post, which featured what appears to be the new track playing in the background. “I’ve been in this industry for eight years and I’ve sold over 165 million records and my record company is saying I can’t release [the song] unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok,” Halsey claimed via text caption in the video. “Everything is marketing, and they are doing this to every artist these days. I just want to release music, man and I deserve better tbh. I’m tired.” A second TikTok features Halsey on a call with someone from their team detailing the plan to release the music, presumably with the viral marketing scheme Halsey referenced in the previous post. “I wish I was kidding lol,” the singer wrote in text over the clip. When the voice on the other end finished going over the plan, Halsey was silent. “What?” the person asked, apparently aware of Halsey’s frustration. “I just hate this,” the singer said. The voice on the other end tried to empathize, replying “Oh I know, I hate it.” It seems some users thought Halsey was inventing the whole thing for likes and clicks, so over on Twitter, they latrer shared this update: “Talked to my label tonight after my tiktok tantrum. They said ‘wow the tiktok is going really strong!’ I was like ok cool so can I release my song now? They said ‘we’ll see!’ … tell me again how I’m making this up.” Asked about the disagreement, a rep for Capitol Music Group told People in a statement published on Monday, “Our belief in Halsey as a singular and important artist is total and unwavering. We can’t wait for the world to hear their brilliant new music.”

Cybill Shepherd admits she and Bruce Willis were ‘very attracted to each other’ during ‘Moonlighting’ days

From March 3, 1985 until May 14, 1989, Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis turned sexual tension into a comedic artform as Maddie Hayes and David Addison on the hit detective dramedy, “Moonlighting.” And as Cybill recently told “Extra,” the sparks viewers saw flying between the two were very much the real deal. “I just have to say one thing about Bruce: No one else was ever considered for the part when he walked in the room,” said Cybill, 72. “My temperature went up 10 degrees. That meant two things to me: one, I was very attracted to him, two, I would never act on it, ’cause we were both very attracted to each other.” Cybill added, “I will always love Bruce.” Her comments come after news Bruce, 67, is “stepping away” from acting because of “cognitive problems” caused by aphasia, a brain disorder that disrupts a person’s language and communication skills. The “Die Hard” star’s family announced he was battling the disease in the March.

Rihanna is ‘in awe’ of her new baby boy

Ten days into her new role as a mom, Rihanna’s embracing parenthood and “in awe” of her baby boy, according to a source close to the singer and her partner, A$AP Rocky. “Being a new parent is of course an adjustment,” the insider tells People, “but they are doing great. Their baby boy is healthy and Rihanna is just in awe of him.” Rihanna, 34, and Rocky, 33, announced they were expecting their first child together in January. In the months that followed, she made a point of using fashion to show off, rather than hide, her pregnancy, telling Vogue she hoped to “redefine what’s considered ‘decent'” for pregnant women to wear. “She really was so excited to be pregnant. She loved it. Meeting her son was of course extremely special too,” People’s source continues, telling the outlet Rihanna “barely leaves his side,” is “a fantastic mom” and “doesn’t seem rushed to get back to work.” Instead, Rih “very much enjoys spending quiet time with her baby,” and often sits with him outside where they can enjoy her big backyard, the insider adds.
