Vanessa Feltz, 60, appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning to give a candid update on how she is doing following her separation from Ben Ofoedu, 50, after being engaged for 16 years. The heartbroken presenter announced their split over the weekend and told her fans that the “trust was gone” in their relationship.
When she sat down with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Vanessa opened up about how she feels now her breakup has been made public.
She tearfully said: “People have always wanted to know about me, it’s been for over 30 years, and I’ve never really known why I’m of any interest really.
“I suppose my relationship was always fascinating to people; they couldn’t work out, you know, he was younger and I was older and we were different.
“So, now it’s over, I don’t know.”
The former Big Brother star continued that her ordeal has been a “terrible shock” as well as leaving her feeling “humiliated”.
On a positive note, she says she has had “so many messages” from supportive fans which have been a source of comfort.
Vanessa went on: “It helps when people say, that you shouldn’t feel foolish for having faith in your own partner.
“You shouldn’t feel like you’ve done something stupid because you believed in somebody that you loved, that isn’t a ridiculous thing to do.
“I have said I feel sad and I feel hurt, which I do, and I have said I feel terribly humiliated.
“And lots of people have said you shouldn’t, so I think that’s quite helpful. To believe in your own relationship isn’t stupid.”
She concluded that she won’t be consumed by her heartbreak, jesting that she isn’t “a stranger to this stuff”.
Vanessa previously went through a “horrible divorce” with her ex-husband Michael Kurer.
