Tom Cruise fans brand him unrecognisable as he attends baseball game

Tom Cruise fans found the movie star "unrecognisable" during his appearance at a baseball game in San Francisco earlier this week.

The 59 year old was in high spirits as he waved to the crowds while watching the San Francisco Giants take on the Los Angeles Dodgers during Game 2 of the National League Division Series with his son Connor, 26.

However, fans were distracted at the Mission Impossible star's appearance, as some questioned whether he had undergone cosmetic surgery.

"Hardly recognized Tom Cruise there," one person tweeted while another added: "Tom has done something to his face or he has gained some weight. But that is our Tom."

Another fan added: "@TomCruise What have you done to your gorgeous face?!!!! I was soooo disappointed when I saw you in the stands at the Dodgers game! STOP putting c**p into your face please!!!!"

While some took aim at the Hollywood star's appearance, others stepped up to defend him.

"Listen, i don't like tom cruise at all (AT ALL), but I'm seriously sick of twitter trashing people for their weight fluctuations. People are allowed to gain and lose weight, and it's really nunya!!! stop being fatphobic." one tweeted.

Another wrote: "Tom Cruise putting some weight on in his face because he's prob not filming a movie requiring him to be in not-human shape and getting memed all over for it feels awfully yucky to me."

This comes after reports emerged that Tom split from his Mission Impossible 7 co-star Hayley Atwell.

Tom and British-American actress Hayley, 39, are believed to have ended their romance during filming for the new movie after the pair were first reported to be dating in December 2020.

Tom and Hayley were seen at a number of high-profile events together, including Wimbledon Tennis in July; however, they are reportedly 'back to being friends' as the seventh Mission Impossible film is near completion, according to The Sun.

"They really got on well – and they're obviously both very good-looking Hollywood stars, so it made for a good match," an insider told the publication.

"But as the latest film winds down they've decided to go back to being friends."

Tom split from ex-wife Katie Holmes in 2012 after six years of marriage together.
