Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson says his Corrie co-stars find it ‘highly amusing’ that he’s going on I’m A Celebrity, and dubbed it highly likely that they will vote for him to take part in the show’s gruesome Trials.
It was announced on Wednesday 24 November thatSimon would be heading into the Castle, where the likes of Richard Madeley, Naughty Boy, Frankie Bridge and Matty Lee are already putting up with the Wales' harsh winter conditions.
Speaking ahead of his I’m A Celeb debut on Thursday 25 November, Simon admitted that he’d once vowed to never go on the show.
He said: “It was common knowledge I would never do I’m A Celebrity, but my wife and kids were like, ‘Come on Si, you’ve got to do it, you will have fun.’ And so, I’ve said yes! It is something cool for the kids to watch dad scream like a young child!”
With this in mind, Simon said his Corrie co-stars find it ‘highly amusing’ that he’s soon to set foot in the Castle.
“I am excited and I know the rest of my cast friends will find it highly amusing I am doing this show! Everyone at work is a huge fan of I’m A Celebrity,” he explained.

“They will be wanting to find out what I am up to each evening and what is coming out of my mouth or going in my mouth! They won’t be voting for me to not do a trial. They will definitely want me to go through some pain.”
His fellow actors won’t be the only ones wanting him to endure the Trials, as Simon believes his family will also be voting for him.
He said: “They will also definitely be voting for me. As much as they love me, they would love to see me throw up after eating something disgusting as well!”
“How am I feeling about the Trials?,” Simon continued. “Well, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would want to do the Trials, but I think when you are in there, it might be nice to get out of camp.”
As to what advice his wife and kids have given him, Simon said they told him to: “Don’t make an idiot of yourself, don’t not do the Trials and don’t let us down Dad”.
