Samantha Markle’s New Book Proves Meghan Can’t Catch A Break
Following the news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were officially leaving the British royal family, many suspected that tabloid coverage of the pair would subside, at least slightly. But, after a year filled with privacy lawsuits, negotiations with the Windsors and moving across the world, it appears that Meghan has another hassle to manage — her sister’s new tell-all book.
Samantha Markle, 56, is Meghan’s half sister, the Daily Mail explains, and, even though the two haven’t seen each other since 2008, it appears as though Samantha is prepared to spill all the information she has. The book, titled The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1, is set to be released in the United States next week. Apparently, it promises to divulge, “hidden truths about her family, as a royal fairy tale plummets from the tea towels.”
After publicly sharing details of the sisters’ strained relationship, Samantha Markle has officially revealed the 330-page book, much to the Duchess’ dismay. According to Newsweek, the book news comes on the heels of a trial that involves the Mail on Sunday over privacy and copyright. The outlet allegedly overstepped when writing about Meghan’s estranged relationship with her father. Newsweek also explains that Samantha claims there will be some things written that the Duchess “won’t like.”
Samantha Markle has been talking about the book for years
Since Prince Harry and his now-wife began dating, her family has long been a sore spot for the two. In 2016, Samantha announced that she was writing the tell-all book. Upon learning the news, Meghan was said to have broken down in tears, according to PopCulture. Essentially, once the news of Harry and Meghan’s romance went public, her sister began to plan for the book.
A friend told the Daily Mail that, “Out of everything that’s been said, the one thing that really upset her was that [the book]. She and Samantha never had a very good relationship and she feels her sister is using her position for profit.”
Originally slated to come out when the Duchess was giving birth to her son, the book proved to be a deep breach of privacy. At the time, Samantha Markle remarked that the tell-all would, “cover everything from behind the scenes that the world does not know about.”
Apparently, the news was such a blow that Meghan stopped reading things about herself in the news following the betrayal. Her half brother, Thomas Markle, has also spoken out about his sister, while Meghan’s relationship with her father nearly overshadowed her 2018 nuptials to Prince Harry, the outlet reports.
With no details yet revealed about the book’s second installment, Meghan will hopefully be able to move on from the drama soon.
