Rod Stewart, 76, has detailed his “wild days” of drinking and s***ging. The rockstar talked to Apple Musc about his new album, The Tears of Hercules, the craziest rock and roll moments of his career and writing songs with Ronnie Wood.

We just weren’t getting the respect.

Rod said that a lot of his behaviour in the old days came from not getting the adequate amount of respect he felt he deserved.

He explained why he and The Faces would smash up hotel rooms.

The star said: “It was The Faces and The Who and mostly it came around because we weren’t getting the respect we deserved.

“We paid for hotel rooms, we’d never get room service or anything and we just weren’t getting the respect.”

He added that he and his bandmates were “outrageous” and that there had been “so many” rock and roll moments.

When asked if he spent a lot of time writing in the seventies he replied: “No, no. In the seventies, there was too much shagging and drinking to do. Party. Because the Faces were the party band.”

He told James Corden on Carpool Karaoke that they would sign in to Holiday Inn as Fleetwood Mac because The Faces were banned from the hotel chain.

Rod added that when the band hosted parties, they let “most of the girls in”, not all of the men, saying there’d be “hundreds and hundreds”.

This is not the first time the star has talked about his personal life.

The star recently spoke to PEOPLE magazine about giving a “sex talk” to his son after realising he had started dating girls.

The father of eight’s son turns 16 later this month, and he seemed confident that his son already knows what he is doing when it comes to dating.

He said: “My 15-year-old is dating girls, so I had to give him a sex lesson.

“I just told him what he should and shouldn’t do, but he’s on top of it.

“He was like, ‘Dad, I’ve got the internet. I know everything,” said Rod.

Rod married wife Penny Lancaster in 2007.

Rod and Penny have two sons together, Aiden, 15, and Alistair, 10.
