Phillip Schofield admits causing Holly Willoughby wardrobe malfunction on Dancing On Ice

Phillip Schofield reflects on decision to come out on This Morning

Phillip Schofield, 58, has revealed he is relieved that social distancing measures will be in place while he films Dancing On Ice 2021 with Holly Willoughby, 39. It comes as the This Morning presenter owned up to accidentally causing an on-air wardrobe malfunction after “stepping on” his co-host’s glamorous gowns in the past.

Phillip addressed his error while sharing a tweet from Dancing On Ice’s official page, which discussed Holly’s beautiful floor length dresses, which wow viewers each year.

The post read: “5 days till The Greatest Show on Ice returns with the lovely @Schofe and @hollywills back to their presenting duties.

“Are you looking forward to the lovely gowns that Holly is going to wear #DancingOnIce.”

Phillip retweeted the post, which featured a snap of him and his co-presenter dressed up to the nines behind-the-scenes of the show.

The star then admitted he was grateful that he would be less likely to mess up Holly’s outfits this year due to coronavirus restrictions forcing them to stand further apart from one another while fronting the series.

He wrote in view of his 4.5 million followers this evening: “At least social distancing means I’m less likely to step on the back of them as we walk.”

Fans took to the comments section of Phillip’s funny post to share their thoughts on his admission.

One person wrote: “Depending on the size of the dress depends on how far you’ll have to socially distance Phil.”

Another added: “You’ll figure out a way to still step on them.”

A third fan commented: “I’m quite sure you’ll still trip over something. Can’t wait for this!”

Elsewhere, Phillip opened up about the build-up to him announcing he is gay on This Morning last year.

The host said he couldn’t have gone on the show to discuss his sexuality without his long-term co-host Holly by his side.

He explained: “I said to Holly, ‘It has to be on This Morning – I owe it to our viewers because you know it is all a family, they have to be the first to hear’.

“Eamonn [Holmes] and Ruth [Langsford] were brought into the conversation much later but they were as obviously as gracious as you would expect them to be that I needed to nick 10 minutes of their show.

“And so that was it, that was decided.”

He added: “The date was decided because we didn’t want it to be too close to the NTAs (National Television Awards).

“We didn’t want to look like it was a publicity thing. And then I can remember saying, ‘This is ridiculous… this is the biggest thing I’m ever going to do in my life. How is this a publicity stunt? For what?'”

Phillip continued on Simon Thomas’ The Life, Interrupted podcast: “There’s no way it would have been anyone else.

“There’s not a single person on this planet that I would have done that with other than Holly, it was only going to be her.”

Discussing the questions she asked him on the show, Phillip went on to say his co-star “couldn’t” give him an “easy ride”.

“It had to be tough questions,” he added.
