Meghan told Harry shed break up with him if he didnt announce relationship

Meghan Markle is thought to have threatened Prince Harry with a break up if the Duke of Sussex didn’t make their relationship public.

The pair first started dating in 2016, to marry just two years later. Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, have since welcomed two children together: Archie, three, and one year old daughter Lilbet.

A source said that Harry was wanting to keep Suits actress Meghan out of the public eye in a bid to “protect her” early on in their romance, but she wanted everyone to know their relationship was the real deal.

The new revelations comes as part of a new book titled Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown by Valentine Low, which is set for release next month.

The book reads, as per Daily Star: "Faced with hordes of journalists intent on trawling through every aspect of Meghan’s life, Harry became determined to protect his girlfriend.

"Meghan, meanwhile, told him that if he did not do something about it, she would break off the relationship.

"A source said: 'She was saying, “If you don’t put out a statement confirming I’m your girlfriend, I’m going to break up with you.'' Harry was in a panic.”

Harry is then thought to have contacted Buckingham Palace communications secretary Jason Knauf to issue a statement confirming their romance.

The book continued: "Harry phoned Knauf, demanding that he put out a statement confirming that Meghan was his girlfriend and condemning the racist and sexist undertones of some of the media coverage.

"Meghan wanted public validation that this was a serious relationship. She was convinced that the palace was unwilling to protect her from media intrusion.

"She told Harry’s staff: 'I know how the palace works. I know how this is going to play out. You don’t care about the girlfriend.'"

The revelations come after the married pair were spotted putting on a united front in the UK as they attended a series of memorial services for the late Her Majesty the Queen.

While there were hopes of reconciliation between the Sussexs and the rest of the Royal Family, it’s expected the pair will return home to America “without a peace deal struck”.

Speaking following the Queen's funeral outside Westminster Abbey, CBS’ Gayle King said: “There have been efforts on both sides … to sort of make this right.”

She then admitted that there hasn’t been any real rapprochement as she shared: “Big families always go through drama, always go through turmoil. It remains to be seen — are they going to be drawn closer together or are they going to be drawn apart?

“I have no idea, I have no inside information on that, but I will tell you this: It was good to see Harry standing with his family.”
