MAFS Whitney isnt in touch with Matt after his getaway with Marilyse

Married At First Sight UK's Whitney Hughes has revealed she isn't in touch with Matt Murray since his getaway with 2021 star Marilyse Corrigan.

During her time on the hit E4 series, the legal PA, 31, and barbershop owner Matt, 32, ruffled feathers as they pursued a romance despite being partnered with other people – Whitney with Duka Cavolli and Matt with Gemma Rose.

When the experiment ended, the couple sadly parted ways. But in a twist no one saw coming, Matt then jetted off on holiday with 2021 star Marilyse – however, the pair have insisted thatthey're just friends .

Catching up with new, Whitney admitted she regrets being with Matt and revealed why she wasn’t surprised by his getaway with Marilyse, adding: "You think you know someone but it turns out you don’t!"

Talking about Matt's getaway with Marilyse, she told us: "I was speaking to Matthew up until he went away. Was I surprised? I don’t know. I don’t know if surprised is the word because I think the Matthew that I thought I knew in the experiment perhaps isn’t the actual Matthew that he is.

"So I think anything that he does, I can’t really be surprised by it because you think you know someone but it turns out you don’t. Matthew and I were really good friends. But yeah, he’s free to do whatever he pleases."

Asked whether they are still in touch, Whitney added: "No, we’re not still in touch. We were speaking all the time, every day and all day until recently."

Talking about her regrets on the show, she said: "I don’t regret how I carried myself but I do really regret being with Matthew. I think I would have been better off going home – but I ran with my feelings, so it is what it is!"

Discussing her split from Matt, Whitney said: "The problems with Matthew and I didn’t start once we left the experiment, they started during the experiment. There were a lot of issues. Like Matthew said at the reunion, he has a lot of insecurities. He just has a lot of things going on in his life and I felt like that was put onto me.

"That was happening while we were in the experiment and we were able to deal with it while we were there. But once we left the apartment, it was harder because there was a long distance between the two of us. Trying to deal with issues over the phone is not quite the same so we just realised that we were better off parting ways."

Asked if she's moved on since Matt and her current relationship status, Whitney said: "I’m not seeing anyone, I’m single! But I’m open to it, I’m not closing myself off to love just because I had this insane experience. You only live once so I’m still open to love but I’m not dating at the moment."
