Comedian Judi Love appeared on Loose Women with her natural hair proudly on display in celebration of World Afro Day, which is today, Wednesday 15 September.

The 41 year old, who recently recalled her teenage panic attacks and said more needs to be done for anxiety sufferers, sat down with her fellow panellists Kéllé Bryan, Janet Street-Porter, and Jane Moore to talk about the important day.

"I am rocking my natural hair, which I do a lot but anyway… I wanted to rock it today and represent because it's a celebration of afro hair," Judi told her pals.

The star continued: "You know there's been a lot of discrimination regards afro hair, feelings like it's not neat, it's not smart, it's not beautiful. But it's all of those things in one and I'm so blessed to have natural afro hair because I can change it up when I want to.

"If I want to, I can just be my fabulous natural self, so that's what we're celebrating today!"

Fans loved Judi's display on the programme as they flocked to Twitter to praise her. One person wrote: "Absolutely love your hair @1Judilove @loosewomen and yours Kellie just the cheer up I need as I’ve just lost my dog on Friday morning x".

Another said: "#LooseWomen @1Judilove You hair looks wonderful…" while a third added: "#LooseWomen Afro hair should be out, loud and proud #AfroHairDay".

World Afro Day, which has been endorsed by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human rights, was founded by Michelle De Leon.

Michelle previously spoke out about her motivation behind the cause as she told Good Morning Britain: "I'm always really determined as a mother to have her [my daughter] love her hair. I didn't celebrate my hair as a child so I really want her to feel good about her hair.

"She did and she was singing one day. I just thought, well I want me and other children around the world to feel positive about our hair as well. So that's why I set up World Afro Day."
