JLS' Aston Merrygold marries long-term love Sarah Lou Richards

Congratulations are in order, after Aston Merrygold married his long-term partner, Sarah Lou Richards.

The JLS singer has been with the professional dancer for over a decade and they have two children together, Grayson Jax, four, and Macaulay Shay, two.

Now, the happy couple have announced that they tied the knot, by posting a black and white picture of their hands, showcasing their new wedding rings.

The newlyweds captioned the joint Instagram post ‘Husband and Wife’, before singing it off with ‘#MrandMrsMerrygold.’

Aston, 34, and Sarah Lou, 36, got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2017, and were originally set to get married in 2020. Yet, like many others, their special day was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

Aston’s bandmates, friends and family rushed to congratulate him and Sarah on their happy news.

His bandmate, JB Gill wrote: ‘Beautiful! Love this news and HERE for the floating! Welcome to the club Team Merrygold!’ with a string of heart eye emoji.

This Morning presenter Rochelle Humes – and wife of fellow bandmate, Marvin – simply put: ‘Dream team.’

The Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberley Wyatt said ‘it’s about damn time’ with a laughing face emoji, before adding ‘all the love,’ and It Takes Two’s Janette Manrara said: ‘Wow!!! Congratulations!’

They were joined by Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden and musician Izzy Judd who all offered their congratulations too.

Earlier in the year, Aston – who met Sarah Lou in 2012 when she worked as a backing dancer on the JLS tour – had teased that he was in full ‘wedding planning mode’, but did not confirm the date of their nuptials.

‘Our date’s in there. I sit down on a regular basis now in the evening. That’s why my Instagram and Twitter have probably been a little bit quieter than usual cos planning is in full swing,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’m enjoying the process of planning – my missus is a trooper, she’s brilliant, so I just have to be like “yes” or “no” and then turn up on the day. She’s a hero.

‘If I’d had it my way I’d be ‘let’s do it, registry office, go somewhere, get it done’. She was like “no, we’re holding out. We’re doing this properly”.’
