David Blaine persevered through a separated shoulder – with help getting it popped back in – during his performance Saturday evening at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas.
The 49-year-old performer had a miscue when he landed after leaping from an 80-foot distance into a pit of foam boxes at the venue, dislocating his right shoulder on impact, the hotel told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The New York City native informed the crowd that he injured in the opening sequence, eyewitnesses told TMZ.
He then recruited a group of crew members onstage who attempted to work his shoulder back into place, as he writhed in pain during the effort.
The veteran illusionist then sought out help from any doctors in the audience, and a number of people emerged to help, looking to pop his shoulder back in, eventually getting it done.

Blaine took a break as he appeared to be reeling from the injury, but soldiered on with the show, impressing the audience in doing so, witnesses told TMZ.
A number of audience members took to Instagram Stories to laud Blaine for his perseverance in putting on an ‘awesome show’ in spite of injuring himself at the outset.
Blaine is ‘fine’ and ‘the show must, and did, go on,’ an insider close to Blaine told the outlet.
According to the paper, Blaine has upped the ante on risky stunts during his current stint at the venue. On Friday, Blaine said he almost blacked out onstage amid a routine in which he holds his breath while under water in a tank.
The magician also suffered a pierced left palm during a December 17 show. In the outing, Blaine slammed his hand over a trio of cups – picked out by people in the crowd – that were positioned over an ice pick.
Blaine says of his Sin City shows on his website: ‘A lot of the show will be brand new things that people have never seen before. I visited Resorts World when the theater was still under construction – and fell in love with the room.
‘The stage is high-tech. The ceilings are 85 feet tall. Having such great heights allows me to dream up things that I’ve always wanted to do but has not been possible in any other theater, until now.’
He added that there will also ‘be some of my favorite pieces of magic, and interaction with the audience.’
