Channel 5's show Celebrities: What Happened To Your Face? has been hit with more than 7,000 complaints after Charlotte Crosby branded it "immoral and insensitive".

An episode of the programme, which aired on Thursday 22 April, focused on the changing appearance of the former Geordie Shore star and her history with plastic surgery.

The 31 year old TV personality responded by hitting out at the show in a lengthy Instagram statement and said it had caused a dip in her mental health while her self esteem plummeted, too.

Her efforts at slamming the show for the detrimental impact it had on her spurred many of her fans and followers into action as government watchdog Ofcom confirmed it received a total of 7,082 complaints about it.

They added: "We apologise for any upset caused.”

Prior to their statement, Charlotte took to her Instagram stories to share her gratitude over the support she's received from both celebrity friends like Jacqueline Jossa, as well as her legions of followers.

She said: "I actually can't quite believe how amazing and kind and incredible everyone has been. Like everyone, like everyone, people who don't even necessarily like us. It just shows us how the world is actually changing. People just won't stand for this treatment or bullying or behaviour anymore, it's just not cool."

Breaking down into floods of tears, she went on to explain that she's emotional but actually a very strong person and focuses "on the positives".

Charlotte, who recently showed off her incredible hallway transformation at her Sunderland mansion, said her fans have given her sense of self worth back.

She said: "I'm crying about how many people have been so kind. I just want to say thank you because you've actually made us feel like I've got a self worth. Like I'm worth something. That's how all of this support has made us feel.

"You do feel like you kind of deserve it. You've got so little self worth, you just feel like when I get troll comments I just think, 'Oh well, what can I expect? I deserve this. I put myself in the public eye. If people have got an opinion, they've got an opinion.'"

She continued: "I can't put into words how grateful I am. Everyone's just been so kind. It's made me think I should care more and think I do deserve better than that."

"It doesn't matter that you're just a stupid reality star, or that you've had your lips done. You do deserve better. Anyway. Thank you so much. That's all I want to say. Thank you," Charlotte added.
