“Whatever breaking point there is to a person, I’ve reached it,” the “Jackass” star told Dr. Phil.
Bam Margera opened up about the recent struggles with his mental health on Monday’s episode of "Dr. Phil".
The "Jackass" star admitted he was ready to "sign off" after suffering a "nervous breakdown" last month, but the sight of his one-year-old son brought him back from the edge of suicide.
"If I didn’t see Phoenix, who knows where I’d be. He’s like my best friend and I’ve known him for not even two years,’ the 39-year-old explained through tears.
"He’s perfect,’ Margera added. "I can’t even put into words. Like, I would dive into any train or anything and get stabbed or shot or whatever just to make sure he didn’t."
A week prior to the taping of the episode on August 5th, Margera said he experienced his "breakdown". And he attributed it to his relationship with wife, Nikki, and mother, April.
"If I ever go crazy, it’s because of you two. It was just everything all at once," Margera told Dr. Phil, referencing the women.
"Whatever breaking point there is to a person, I’ve reached it," he exclaimed.
After being pressed by Dr. Phil, Margera denied his past struggles with drug addiction played any part of his ‘breakdown’ and suicidal thoughts. The MTV alum had entered rehab in 2009, 2015, and 2018.
Wrapping up Monday’s episode, the daytime TV host gave an update on Margera.
"Bam went to detox at Alo House Recovery. But he didn’t stay put. First he went on a field trip from the facility and decided it would be a great idea to get a tattoo of my name on his neck," Dr. Phil detailed.
"This time, he ended up at a hotel in Hollywood, where he was arrested. He decided his life was worth fighting for and checked back into the detox facility before moving to a different rehabilitation center where we are told he is making great strides."
