Cal Fire Captain’s connection to Coachella Valley dies from multiple stabbings

A CAL fire chief connected to Coachella Valley was stabbed several times Monday at her San Diego County home. Authorities are investigating it as a possible domestic violence incident.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that deputies from the San Diego Sheriff’s Office responded to radio calls about the 20200 block of Ramona’s 20200 Rancho Villa Road, around 9 p.m. They found Rebecca Marodi, 49, had multiple stab wounds and managed medical assistance until paramedics arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marodi spent about 32 years in fire service. Cal Fire said she was originally a volunteer firefighter in the Moreno Valley in 1993, then a firefighter from San Bernardino and Riverside Forces. Since 2007, she has been a firefighting agency engineer, and the firefighting agency promoted her to captain in 2022.

Cal Fire said she was at the Emergency Command Center in Perris, 13 Home Garden Fire Department, 55 Indian Wells Fire Department, 68 Menifie Fire Department, 69 North Rancho Mirachi Fire Department, 69, 69, Camp Temicula 15 Relief and French Valley Fire Department 83 carry out the mission.

“Her death has caused great losses to her family, friends and all those who have the honor of working with her,” said Carl Fire. “We express our deepest condolences to Captain Marody’s loved ones and are commemorating her Stand together in extraordinary life and service.”

The motives and circumstances behind Marodi’s death are unclear, but investigators suspect Marodi knows the attacker and regards it as a possible domestic violence incident, the sheriff’s office said.
