Burlington restaurant “closed indefinitely” and fire marshal asked questions: What to know
The cornerstone of downtown Burlington nightlife scenes has been “closed indefinitely” for decades, according to a post from the Instagram account of restaurants and bars.
Manhattan is the latest name for the business, which has long been called Manhattan Pizza and Bar. “With a heavy heart and a lot of unresolved issues, I have to announce that Manhattan will be closed indefinitely,” the Instagram post on February 20 said.
On January 17, a sign on the windows on the doors of Manhattan pointed out that the business had been “closed until further notice.” The sign comes from the city fire marshal.
On February 21, 2025, a sign in Manhattan in Burlington pointed out that the city’s fire marshal has “closed until” restaurants and bars.
“This business does not work in it that is difficult to experience, which leads to capacity issues,” Philip, assistant fire marshal for Burlington Fire Department, told Burlington Free Press in an email. “They were told that they could not open until the appropriate permit was pulled into the city and closed.”
The current ownership does not respond to free media requests for comment.
The business has changed the issue with Rincon on staffing, refurbished, brief names over the past few months, and then another name change is more like the original before it recently shut down. Instagram posts in Manhattan indicate that the account will remain active until there is an update. ”
