Buffaloes eliminated from bowl game, ESPN broadcaster faces bias accusations in favor of Colorado

The BYU Cougars held off a perfect send-off for Shaddell Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter with a late-season win over the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday night.

The Cougars defeated Buffalo 36-14 in the Alamo Bowl. BYU running back LJ Martin rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and Sione I Moa added another score on the ground to help BYU win.

College football fans who watch ESPN games are so unhappy with the spotlight on Colorado that they’re making their voices heard on social media.

BYU offensive lineman Connor Pay even told broadcasters to talk more about the team, according to broadcaster Dave Pasch.

“He walked up there (to the production meeting) yesterday and said to us, ‘Tell us a little bit about BYU, okay?’ Well, we were talking about Connor Pay and now we’re talking about BYU,” Pash said in the fourth quarter, via Awful Announcing said the Cougars led 33-7. “I’m sure Provo fans will enjoy us talking about BYU all night long.”

Dusty Dvorachek, Pash’s broadcast partner, added that BYU “gives us a lot to talk about.”

Regardless, Colorado’s Sanders and Hunter will be first-round picks in the upcoming draft. Not to mention, Deion Sanders is Colorado’s head coach and has rebuilt the program into one of the most attractive in the country.

Saunders said it’s “hard” to know that some of the players he’s coached over the past two or three years will leave his team to begin the next phase of their journey.

BYU finished the season with an 11-2 record, their third 10-win season in the past five years. They haven’t achieved that feat since the mid-2000s, when they won at least 10 games from 2006 to 2009 and then again in 2011.

Kalani Sitake has led the team from just five wins in his first season in the Big 12 last year to 11 wins and one bowl game appearance.
