Third man accused of stealing safe from Billerica VFW arrested
After a warrant was issued earlier this week, police arrested a third suspect accused of breaking into and stealing a safe at a local VFW post.
Peter George Poulakos, 32, of Lowell, was charged with nighttime burglary, conspiracy, theft over $1,200, break and enter and burglary of a building .
At approximately 8 a.m. on January 13, a janitor at the VFW Post Office in Solomons reported to police that the safe was missing and that someone had broken into it during the night. The bartender said the safe was still in the building when they left the night before.
Based on evidence at the scene and surveillance video from the area, police determined that a pickup truck was transporting the safe from the VFW.
Authorities identified Poulakos, 53-year-old Christopher John Silva and 47-year-old San Sin, both of Lowell, as suspects.
Christopher John Silva (left) and San Sheen, both of Lowell, face charges for stealing a safe from a local VFW post office.
On January 15, police executed a search warrant at an address on Wright Street in Lowell and arrested Silva and Sin. Cash and evidence related to the break-in and safe theft were also found at the residence, according to authorities.
The discarded safe itself was found in another area of Lowell.
Poulakos was found around 8:30 a.m. Friday at the same home on Wright Street where police had served a search warrant days earlier.
Poulakos is in custody and will be arraigned in Lowell District Court.
Silva and Sheen had previously been arraigned. Their cases remain open.
The fourth man, a 49-year-old Lowell man, will be arraigned in court later for his role in the robbery. Police did not release his name.
