Norwegian cruise line passengers say expensive add-ons are worth it

For many cruisers, relaxation is an important part of the cruise vacation.
While there are many ways to relax on the cruise, spending time on the Cruise boat adds an extra sense of tranquility to enhance the peaceful holiday at sea. Massage, facial and other soothing spa treatments can help passengers truly relax and restore balance.

But besides spa treatments, most cruise spas also have keys to a hidden oasis, a shelter for sea self-care – the hot suite. A modern hammam experience, the hot suite is a haven for relaxation, including a sauna, steam room, vibrant pool, heated lounge chairs and more.
On most cruise ships, passengers are required to purchase a hot suite pass to enjoy these exclusive areas of the spa during their cruise. Prices vary by cruise, but the Thermal Suite pass is an expensive cruise add-on that can sometimes cost cruisers more than $300 for a 7-day cruise pass.
Recently, Thermal Suite passes have been a hot topic in the Norwegian cruise Reddit community as some passengers turn to other cruisers to help them determine whether expensive passes are worth squandering the upcoming voyage.
“Husband and I will be cruising Alaska in April. Is the complete cruise package worth it?” asked Reddit user Bohcinodoza. “It’s a little expensive, and I don’t want to lose money without using it. Thoughts?”

Passengers share why they think Norwegian hot suites are worth it
Some passengers in the Norwegian Reddit community say Thermal Suite Pass is a cruising luxury they won’t have sailing, especially on Alaska’s voyage and sea days.
“We do it every time. It’s great to walk all day, hike, and then go back to the boat and relax in the spa or steam room.” “We use it every day on our cruise.”

A passenger who is currently cruising is also pleased with their hot suite experience.
“It’s an 11-day cruise and I’m so glad I bought the Thermal Suite Cruise Pass. It gives me the option of a quieter day. I use it in some form every day,” commented 80Sladie. “If I get tired of the crowds of hot tubs and pools, I can come to the hot spa; it’s usually quiet. Sometimes I give it to myself completely.”
Another passenger shared that the hot spa was what made them cruise.
“This is the main reason why I’m cruising now (after more than 20 cruises). I go to the hot spa every day, do the spa pool, salt room, steam room, sauna, ice room and repeat circuits.” “It’s also a Relaxation quiet attraction, lying on heated ceramic lounge chairs.”

Passengers provide tips for heat-saving suite passes
In the Norwegian cruise route Reddit community thread, passengers also pointed out that you can sometimes purchase a one-day pass or a three-day pass for the Thermal Spa without a full cruise pass.
One passenger also shared a tip that might score lower on the full cruise pass.

“Joy is the best. Don’t buy in advance. Wait until you set out and take a tour.” AAE2808 suggests. “Don’t get their first price either. They negotiated with me for a 5-day tour for $50 (the $279 negotiation dropped to $229). It’s worth it if you use it. I really like it It, I’m in it except for a day. I can only imagine coming back from a hike in Alaska and sitting at the spa.”
Passengers also noted that smaller cruise ships in Norway’s cruise line fleet usually have fewer thermal suite facilities and therefore charge a lower fee.
