What’s on the menu for Donald Trump’s inaugural luncheon?

After President Donald Trump is sworn in on January 20, he will attend a luncheon hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) at the U.S. Capitol.

But what’s on the menu?

While specific details for the 2025 event have yet to be announced, if history is any indication, diners can expect a three-course meal that will include seafood dishes, meat entrees and desserts (possibly with ice cream).

Now that Trump calls Florida his home state, it’s no surprise to see dishes influenced by the Sunshine State’s legendary cuisine, or perhaps dishes that pay homage to Vice President J.D. Vance’s Ohio roots.

In 2017, the last time an inaugural luncheon was held, Trump had a three-course meal with about 200 lunch guests. (The 2021 event is not taking place due to the coronavirus pandemic.)

The first course was Maine lobster and Gulf shrimp with saffron sauce and crushed peanuts, followed by roasted Seven Hills Angus beef with dark chocolate, juniper jus and roasted potatoes.

Dessert was chocolate soufflé and cherry vanilla ice cream.

The 2017 menu is very similar in structure to the menu at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration in 2013.

There, guests dined on steamed lobster and New England chowder, followed by roasted bison, “sweet potato horseradish cake and wild huckleberry juice,” and for dessert, “Hudson Valley apple pie,” sour cream ice cream, aged cheese and honey.

The last inaugural lunch that didn’t include ice cream for dessert was President George W. Bush’s second inauguration in 2005.

The dessert for that event was “steamed lemon pudding with apple and wild cherry compote.”

The JCCIC website states that the inaugural luncheon was first held in 1897, but its current form began in 1953.

“That year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mrs. Eisenhower and 50 other guests of the JCCIC dined on buttered chicken, baked ham and hash browns in the now-restored Old Senate Chamber,” the website states.

Events are now held in Statuary Hall.

Luncheon specials often reflect the home state of the new president, vice president, or JCC president, as well as the theme of the inauguration, which includes speeches, JCC gifts, and toasts to the new administration.

The theme of the 2025 Inauguration is “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise.”

The theme “embodies the commitment of the Founding Fathers to future generations of Americans to preserve the continuity and stability of our democratic system of government,” the JCCIC said.

Fox News Digital contacted the JCCIC for details on the 2025 inaugural lunch menu.
