Bondy announces immigration lawsuit against New York

The Trump administration sued New York on Wednesday over its immigration policy, accusing state officials of prioritizing “illegal foreigners over U.S. citizens” as Washington intensified its political and legal battle against the state against deportation.
Attorney General Pam Bondi specifically cited New York’s “Green Light” law in her first press conference, which allows people in the state to obtain a driver’s license, regardless of citizenship or legal status .
Ms. Bundy vowed to end the practices on either side of the federal agents who attacked the jacket.
“It stopped,” Ms. Bundy said. “Stop today.”
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Albany, saying New York State law is the worst lawsuit because it requires state authorities to “tip any illegal foreigner immediately when federal immigration agencies require their information.”
The lawsuit claims it was a “frontal attack on federal immigration law and the administration of federal immigration law.”
Avi Small, a spokesman for Governor Kathy Hochul, said the governor “supports the deportation of violent criminals who violate our law, believes that law-abiding families should not be targeted and will have The federal authorities coordinated the judicial decree.”
Ms. Hawkell was scheduled to travel to Washington on Thursday to rush to arrange lunch at the White House with President Trump, but Ms. Bondy announced her intention to sue Ms. Hawkell and the State, who canceled the trip. With the governor’s plan. The person spoke on anonymous because they have no right to speak publicly about the situation.
The lawsuit is a federal effort to force more cooperation in developing Mr. Trump’s immigration agenda. The administration has already raised similar challenges to Democratic officials in Illinois. Cities in California, Oregon and Connecticut in turn sued the government for refusing funds to places that did not provide all the assistance needed to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants.
The dispute revolves around differences between state and federal laws. Immigration and deportation are federal responsibility; states and cities often pass laws aimed at ensuring that their residents’ cooperation with police and local authorities does not cut immigration authorities.
During Mr. Trump’s first term, similar efforts to deprive funds from local jurisdictions failed in court. Ms. Bundy predicts that this will be successful because the Supreme Court will ultimately benefit the government.
The announcement is not only a warning in New York and Illinois, but also in other unspecified states, Ms. Bundy suggests that she will be prosecuted.
“If you’re a state that doesn’t comply with federal law, then you’re the next step and ready,” Ms. Bundy said. “This is a new DOJ and we’re taking steps to protect U.S. citizens.”
Molly Biklen, interim legal director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said the document “has serious violation of New York’s constitutional rights and traditionally focused on areas of legislation.”
