Biden pardons late black activist Marcus Garvey, four others

On Sunday, President Biden issued five more pardons on his final day in office, including political activist and black nationalist Marcus Garvey.
“America is a nation built on the promise of second chances,” Biden said in the statement. “As President, I have used my pardon power to make that promise a reality, issuing more individual pardons and commutations than in American history. More than any other president. Today, I will exercise my power to pardon 5 people and commute the sentences of 2 people.” They have demonstrated remorse, healing, and redemption, and each has made significant contributions to the betterment of their communities.
