Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen is asking President Biden to pardon his son Hunter before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
Cohen discussed his efforts to secure a pardon from the Biden administration on MSNBC’s “Weekend” on Saturday morning. He claimed that if he is not granted a presidential pardon, he will continue to be “in danger” of being prosecuted by Trump.
Cohen believes Biden has an obligation to protect him and other critics from Trump, just as he protected his son Hunter.

“Yes, I applied for a presidential pardon because I believe Joe Biden owes me as much responsibility as he does his own son,” Cohen said. “I want me and anyone else on the enemy list to receive the same responsibility he has for me.” The same pardon for the son, whether they want it or not, because I guarantee you, solitary confinement, where I was for 51 days, sucks.”

MSNBC host Simone Sanders agreed with Cohen’s concerns about being put on Trump’s “enemies list,” but disagreed with Hunter Biden’s invocation.
“I mean, Hunter Biden is the last surviving son of the president,” Sanders said.
“I’m somebody’s son, too, by the way,” Cohen replied.
“Agreed. You’re someone’s son,” Sanders said. “But I mean, to be very clear, you’re not the president’s son. I think he pardoned Hunter primarily because that’s his son.”
Cohen insisted on how important it was to take Trump’s threats seriously.

“When Donald Trump turns around, you have to take his word for it,” Cohen said. “So far, everything he’s said he’s going to do, he’s actually going to do. And he’s been doing it one by one. Now, it might not be all on day one like he said happens, but ultimately he will have more than four years to fill government positions with a whole group of people to help him achieve his goals.
Cohen served three years in prison for federal crimes including tax evasion, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress while working for Trump. He has since become an outspoken critic of the president-elect and testified against Trump in Alvin Bragg’s New York criminal case earlier this year.
Cohn also said in September that he planned to leave the country if Trump was re-elected.

“I’m already applying for a foreign passport with a completely different name. I don’t know what to do with my wife and kids. I certainly don’t want them to move to where I am now and want to leave,” Cohen said.

Biden pardoned his son Hunter in December, despite insisting he would not do so, but he came under attack from both sides. In the weeks leading up to the end of his term, Biden also said he was still considering preemptive pardons for some of Trump’s political foes, such as former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
