Rappaport notes that viewers will continue to understand why Alice can live a future with Brett in place of her husband, adding: “Brett and Alice’s relationship is that they are both big dreamers and both have very aspiring dreams. Alice’s big dream is to become a New York City writer, and Brett’s big dream is to have a car restoration business.”
He continued: “That’s something that really connects. They keep challenging each other and encouraging each other to achieve these dreams. Meanwhile, with Doug and Alice’s relationship, she gets this pressure from her in-laws to have a baby and settle down. So it’s really nervous, really [the argument] spark. ”

So you thought, “Wow, how did we get here?” “Then throughout the season, those schedules start to come together.
