Winemaker signs Jose Quintana

Winemakers are adding veterans to their rotation. Milwaukee reportedly has Jose Quintana Traded in a year of 4.25mm. This adopts a $250,000 roster bonus and a 4mm base salary for Wasserman clients. The signing that the team has not yet officially signed also includes incentives. The brewer has a complete 40-man lineup and will need to take corresponding actions once an agreement is reached.
Quintana, 36, is one of the unsigned free agents because the regular season is more than three weeks away. He just completed a two-year, 26mm deal with the Mets, which led him to release a solid surface level result, although the numbers under the hood are slightly impressive.
A fractured left rib put him on the injury list at the start of the season and left him there until mid-July. He returned in time, starting at 13 shots, allowing 3.57 runs per nine innings, although his strikeout rate dropped to 18.8%. Last year, he stayed healthy enough to catch 31 times and recorded 170 1/3 innings with 3.75 ERA. But his strikeout again covers 18.8% of the field, and his game averages .263 hits. He both made 4.56 FIP and 4.57 Siera during the year that he made a worse result than actually released.
Quintana designed a strong rebound season before signing with the Mets. After struggling with injuries and underperforming in 2020 and 2021, the lefty released at 2.93 ERA at the start of 32 times in 2022. During that rebound year, he had a strikeout rate of 20.2%, a walking rate of 6.9%, and a ground ball rate of 46.4%. He has had 3.70 ERA in 246 innings since, but he has a strikeout rate of 18.8%, a walking rate of 8.4% and a 45.6% ground ball rate, each in the wrong direction.
Quintana isn’t the most exciting profile, but even getting some boring spins can be good for brewers, especially for the price. At the beginning of the winter, MLBTR predicts left-handers will receive a two-year, $20mm contract and will be the same as other mid-spin or back-end guys Frankie Montas,,,,, Andrew Heaney or Matthew Boyd.
The pitching market was very radical in the early days, with Montas being able to get a two-year, 34mm guarantee and exiting the Mets. Boyd is two years and 29mm from the Cubs. But the heat has disappeared recently, which seems to have squeezed out some people. Heaney had to provide a 5.25mm guarantee for Pirates under a one-year contract. Quintana reportedly rejected a better offer for the Heaney deal from the Bucs, but is now joining Milwaukee for a similar arrangement.
This winter, winemakers have obviously been operating, with no financial swaying space. Their biggest free agent signing was given a guarantee of 1mm before signing Quintana Taylor Alexander. They did add Nestor Cortes In the deal with the Yankees, the deal was quite neutral, with Devin Williams round trip.
There are some question marks in their spin combination. Robert Gasser Tommy John’s surgery was required in June last year until the second half of 2025. Brandon Woodruff Recovering from shoulder surgery, which eliminates his 2024 campaign, is not clear when he will become a viable option. DL Hall A few weeks ago, I was under pressure from fatigue and will start the season on the injured roster.
so far, Freddy Peralta Next to Cortez Aarons and Tobias Myers. Civale lost 161 innings last year, but that was the best for him, never hitting 125 frames in previous major league seasons. Myers released the 3.00 era era in his first major league action, but before that was a pre-nomad prospect, so whether he could sustain his grades or his 2024 was a lucky year remains to be seen.
Other options in the mix include Alexander and Aaron Ashby. Alexander had 4.55 times in his career, but was primarily a swing role, oscillating between the start and the relief. This Quintana deal should once again bring him more firmly into the position. Ashby left today’s spring training appearance with an italic injury, has some starting experience but struggled for much of 2024 before taking on a relief role. He is still a starting candidate, but he may eventually end up back in the bullpen with a year to choose from, which could push him toward a triple spin.
Even though Quintana’s 2024 results are a bit illusion, he has reached an era in this year’s 4.00s, and the existence of a stable veteran at this price is a logical increase in logic for clubs with so many spinning question marks and less spending power.
For clubs that still want to add to the start pitching in the late stages of the offseason, there are still some unsigned options, including Kyle Gibson,,,,, Lance Lynn and Spencer Turnbull. There may be a trade market Jordan Montgomery and Taiwan Walkeralthough their salary is much larger than the free agents who have settled in recent weeks.
Fansided’s Robert Murray first reported that the winemaker was signing Quintana for a one-year contract. Francys Romero reports that salaries will drop and incentives within 4-5 mm range. Mark Feinsand by MLB.com has a specific $4.25mm guarantee and salary structure.
