Ali Larter details why her family left Los Angeles for Idaho four years ago

Allie Larter and her husband, Hayes MacArthurThey moved from Los Angeles to a small town in Idaho during the coronavirus pandemic — and they had no choice.

“Our children’s school was closed during COVID-19 and we were like, ‘Why are we just sitting here?’” Rutter, 48, said on the show on Friday, January 10: Living with Kelly and Mark. “So, my husband said, ‘Let’s take a road trip to Idaho. [and] Go skiing with the kids.

Rutter and MacArthur, 47, have been married since 2008 and have 14-year-old son Theodore and 9-year-old daughter Vivian.

“We fell in love with nature, the mountains and a new life,” Landman the actress gushed on Friday. “We completely pivoted and went all in. We actually got our own house [in California] Less than a year. We came back to Los Angeles and realized we needed to put our family first.

Rutter added: “Our life there was very different, and it was a small town and it gave you different types of responsibilities. It was something that Hayes and I really wanted to do for our kids, so we did arrive.

Larter further explained that since moving to the mountains, the family now has a “real life” that is “rooted in reality.”

“We’re very grateful,” Rutter said, later joking that son Theodore was initially unhappy with the move. “He likes fast cars and designer colognes as much as he wants to live in a big city. I said, ‘You’re 18, you can go. [back].’ … He’s really into it now and I think he understands how great it is to have his pack there.

According to Rutter, she and MacArthur also “thought that if you could climb a mountain, you could run a conference room.”

“We just believe in raising them that way,” she concluded.

Rutter and MacArthur settled their children in the resort town of Sun Valley, which has hosted celebrities, acclaimed festivals and business conferences over the years.

“We fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and their quiet grandeur,” Ratt told us street magazine In a September 2024 profile. “None of us have lived in a small town before. People look out for each other. There’s a real sense of community here and we’re happy to be a part of it.
