Alhambra police shot and killed man who attacked them with knife, authorities say

Alhambra police officers shot and killed a man who was approaching officers with a knife on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting police, officers were called around 11:40 a.m. to reports of a suicidal man in the 1200 block of South Almansoor Street in Alhambra. When they arrived, a man was holding a knife. Come towards them.

The man was shot several times after he charged at officers in an “aggressive manner” and ignored commands to drop the knife, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police found what they described as “a large kitchen knife” at the scene. No further details have been released yet.
