Seat squatters have taken their “hacking” to the next level by not only looking to steal a better seat on the plane, but also trying to grab free drinks in the process.
Airline passengers are doing whatever they can to get a free “pre-flight drink,” even if it means sitting around for a few seconds.
A Reddit user shared a story about a flight attendant’s encounter with a passenger who cheated the beverage system by posing as a first-class passenger.

Users are flying with Delta Air Lines from Providence, Rhode Island, to Atlanta, Georgia.

The person added: “They got up quickly, smiled and said, ‘We are rookies.’ The stewardess asked what row they were in and they said 24.
The awkward encounter happened in front of the passenger, and the flight attendant told Reddit users that they had experienced a similar situation on an earlier flight.

However, this seat squatter wanted a few things besides an upgraded seat.
The flight attendant recounted how “people sit down, receive pre-flight drinks, then say, ‘I’m just going to say hi to my sister in the back of the plane,’ then walk away with the free drink apparently not coming back,” wrote a Reddit user.

Flight passengers and Reddit users went on to say that women squatting in the front row might want to do the same thing.
“They might have been completely lucky if the woman wasn’t behind them,” the social media poster said. “Either that or they thought they were on a swanky Southwest flight and could sit anywhere.”

Other Reddit users weighed in on the conversation, calling the behavior shameful and “disgusting.”
“I honestly refuse to believe that people are resorting to such low prices to get ‘free’ alcohol,” one user commented. “And the pre-deployment drinks weren’t even that good!”

This isn’t the first time someone has taken advantage of first-class prepaid drinks, only to have them sent back to their actual seats.

Another Redditor posted a comment on the “R/Delta” forum about the experience of first-class seating square footage.
The passenger was upgraded to first class as the original passenger did not show up. When a Reddit user arrived at the new seating mission, they spotted a woman sitting on the scene.

The user then claimed: “This woman just saw an open seat in first class and thought she would see if she could sit there.”
The Reddit Thread Creator also said that the first-class seater ordered a beer while sitting in his seat without permission, “which was later delivered to [the rightful seat owner] As Fox News Digital previously reported, she was “happy to drink.”

The seat squatting trend has been taking off over the past few months – controversial attempts to upgrade aircraft seats to the dismay of other flyers.
Rather than claiming seats or trying to self-upgrade, Gary Leff, a Texas travel industry expert and author of the blog “View from the Wings,” suggests people try their own by asking to swap seats with someone else on the ship. luck.

Etiquette experts also weighed in on the trend, sharing tips on how best to interact with squatters.
