San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie directed city employees to return to their offices at least four days a week, which was arranged in a memo on Tuesday. New Mayor Lurie, dedicated to revive San Francisco, said working in person “providing cities with critical operational benefits” that will increase government efficiency.
“Take workers back to the office will make our services more effective and responsive to our residents. That’s what San Francisco people expect and what Mayor Lurie will deliver. We look forward to working with our partners in the coming weeks and implementing the mayor’s plan in the coming weeks,” Charles Lutvak, a spokesman for Lurie for Lurie, said in a statement to Fox Digital Digital.
In a memo to department heads, Lurie said that currently 70% of San Francisco employees are five or more days a week, with the remaining 30% of their working hours working three days a week. Lurie directed employees to return to the office at least four days a week to “full implementation of the target date of April 28”.

The memorandum outlines how work within the office can leverage performance, communication and collaboration while allowing more employees to serve San Francisco.
Ohio governor orders administration employees to return to office under Trump
Trump signed an executive order on his first day to end all remote work in the federal government, part of the Department of Efficiency’s efforts to increase productivity. Governors and mayors across the country followed suit and directed their employees to return to their offices.
While San Francisco employees are now expected to return to the office, California employees can still follow a hybrid plan. Last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration ordered state employees to return to their offices at least two days a week. The Governor’s Office has not commented on the memorandum of Lurie on the deadline for this article.

Lurie’s return order matches his plan to revive San Francisco. He campaigned to clean San Francisco’s streets, enhance public safety, resolve the city’s drug crisis, create housing, cut off corrupt bureaucracy, and “breathe back to our downtown.”
Lurie announced Tuesday an agreement with the Supervisory Board on the Legislative Council to transform the air transport office in downtown San Francisco into new housing. The legislation would allow the city to cut red ring regulations, making it difficult to start an “office conversion project”.
“Transforming vacant offices into housing will help drive us to create new homes for San Franciscans while downtown recovery,” Lurie said. “It’s a win-win situation for our city, thanks to a new era in Town Hall, so we can create a thriving 24/7 downtown that benefits residents and businesses.”
The mayor’s office said the new legislation would reduce the development costs of converting office spaces and extend the application deadline for the program, which would make it easier to obtain zoning and construction permits.

Earlier this month, Lurie launched San Francisco The Police Department (SFPD) Hotel Task Force has increased the presence of police officers in San Francisco’s commercial and tourist areas and devoted more resources to high traffic areas.

San Francisco also passed the Fentanyl Emergency this month, which will provide “the resource to get drugs off the streets and keep San Francisco safe” by improving shelter capacity, expanding health programs and releasing funds for expanded treatment programs.
