Afghan troops target Pakistan in retaliation for deadly airstrikes that kill dozens

Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that its forces had struck multiple locations in Pakistan in retaliation for last week’s deadly airstrikes.

Pakistan launched an operation last Tuesday that destroyed a training facility and killed insurgents in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika province. The attack killed dozens of people, mostly women and children.

The ministry did not say whether there were any casualties or how the strike was conducted.

Pakistani officials have accused the Taliban of not doing enough to combat cross-border militant activity, but the Taliban government denies the accusation and says the Taliban will not allow anyone to launch attacks against any country from its territory.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry did not immediately comment on the retaliation.
