analysts expect RPM International Speed Second quarter earnings will be announced before the market opens on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, with earnings per share of $1.34.
The Medina, Ohio-based company expects quarterly revenue of $1.79 billion, compared with $1.79 billion a year ago, according to Benzinga Pro. On October 2, RPM International announced its first-quarter results. Sales fell 2.1% year-on-year to US$1.97 billion, below market expectations of US$2.015 billion.
With all the buzz surrounding RPM International recently, some investors may be paying attention to the potential gains from its dividend. The company currently offers an annual dividend rate of 1.63%. That translates into a quarterly dividend of 51 cents per share ($2.04 annually).
So, how can an investor use its dividend yield to earn $500 every month on a regular basis?
To earn $500 per month or $6,000 per year through dividends alone, you would need to invest approximately $368,860, or approximately 2,941 shares. At $100 per month or $1,200 per year, that would require $73,747 or approximately 588 shares.
calculate: Divide the required annual income ($6,000 or $1,200) by the dividend ($2.04 in this example). Therefore, $6,000 / $2.04 = 2,941 shares ($500 per month), $1,200 / $2.04 = 588 shares ($100 per month).
Note that dividend yields can change on a rolling basis, as both dividend payments and share prices fluctuate over time.
How does this work: Dividend yield is calculated by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock’s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently trading at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price rises to $60, the dividend yield will drop to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield will rise to 5% ($2/$40).
Likewise, changes in dividend payments can affect yields. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will increase as long as the stock price remains unchanged. Conversely, if dividend payments decrease, the yield will also decrease.
Price CPM behavior: RPM shares fell 0.6% Thursday to close at $125.42.
