Trump executes order to cut federal DEI support ban

The Court of Appeal Friday canceled President Donald Trump’s execution order to end federal support for diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
The panel of three judges ruled that the orders could be enforced in pending lawsuits, reversing the national injunction of Baltimore’s U.S. District Court Judge Adam Abelson, according to the Associated Press.
The report said two judges from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals said the orders “could raise concerns about First Amendment rights” but found that Arberson’s “Sweeping the Blocks Too Far.”

The ruling was filed in the City of Baltimore, the National Association of Diversified Officials, the American Association of University Professors and the Federation of Restaurant Opportunity Centers, and the alleged execution order was an over-propaganda and unreported rumor by the president.

Trump’s order directs federal agencies to terminate all grants or contracts “related to equity” and requires federal contractors to demonstrate that they will not promote DEI.
The government argued in court that the injunction only affects DEI programs that violate federal civil rights laws.
“What is happening is overcorrection and backed off the DEI statement,” attorney Aleshadye Getachew said at the hearing.

The president won the victory with the latest injunction, but on Wednesday a similar federal lawsuit was filed in the DCUS District Court, challenging the DEI execution orders, which included: “End radical and wasteful DEI programs and preferences;” “Defend women from extremism in gender ideology and restore biological truths to the federal government;” and “End illegal discrimination and restore performance-based opportunities.”

The second complaint was filed by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Lambda on behalf of the nonprofit advocacy group.
