Dolly Parton Salute to the late husband Carl Deanher first public appearance since she died at the age of 82 earlier this month.
“Of course, I will always love him, but I want you to know that I will love you forever,” Parton, 79, told fans at the 40th anniversary celebration of her theme park on Friday, March 14.
She continued: “I just want everyone to know what happened to us in the last few years I’m grateful to you. I just want to spend a minute thanking everyone for all the flowers and cards and the differences in blessings. You know how I love him and he wants me to work today. I hope to work.”

Parton appeared in Dollywood on Friday in just 11 days after her husband, who was nearly 60 years old, died on March 3.
“Carl and I have spent many years together. Words cannot serve justice to us for more than 60 years of love. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy,” she wrote via Instagram.

On March 7, Parton released a engaging new single titled “If You Haven’t Been There” in a tribute to her and Dean’s enduring love story.
“Carl and I fell in love when they were 18, and he was 23, like all great love stories, they never end. They live in memories and songs, and I dedicate them to him,” she wrote via Instagram.

The couple got married in Georgia on May 30, 1966, but rarely met in public because Dean prefers to stay away from the public’s eyes. During the first decades of the marriage, Dean operated his own asphalt and driveway paving business in Nashville.
Many of Parton’s famous friends and fans have publicly commemorated the dean, including country music superstar Jessie James Decker and Lenny Wilson.
