NBA News: Oliver Miller dies at 54

Oliver Miller was called “Big O” during the game at the age of 54.
Miller is a strong center, helping Arkansas advance to the final four games before playing for nine seasons in the NBA.
Miller has been battling brain cancer.

Miller is 6-foot-9 and weighs nearly 300 pounds and has been outstanding in Arkansas since 1988-92. He averaged 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in four seasons, helping Naismith Hall of Fame coach Nolan Richardson’s 1989-90 team reach the final four games before losing to Duke and earned Southwest Conference Player honors in 1991.
He is also a member of the Phoenix Suns, who lost to Michael Jordan’s 1992-93 NBA Finals.

Miller’s former teams poured in tribute.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Arkansas legend Oliver Miller,” Arkansas said in a social media post. “A key member of the four teams in the 1990 Finals, a SWC Hall of Fame member, a first-round NBA draft pick and a true manifestation of Razorback Spirit. We love you.
“He has a place in his history as a member of our inaugural team in 1995 and we are very grateful for all his contributions. We offer our deepest condolences to the Miller family,” said the Raptors, who played in Toronto’s first roster.
Miller was selected by Phoenix in 1992 and finished 22nd. He averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Suns, the Detroit Pistons, the Raptors, the Dallas Mavericks, the Sacramento Kings and the Minnesota Timberwolves Wolves.
