Dominican chair referee banned for six years to score fixed

A chair referee who repeatedly cheated on the scoring system has been banned.

Dominican chair referee Juan Gabriel Castro The International Tennis Integrity Bureau announced today that it has been suspended for six years and fined $6,000 after 12 violations of tennis anti-corruption plans.

National Level Official Castro did not respond to ITIA’s alleged notice of alleged charges related to three games, which the official was allegedly manipulated to score in to form a scorecard and promote corruption.

According to the 2025 TACP, “considered sanctions” can be issued to individuals who choose not to respond to ITIA’s investigation and arbitration process. An individual has 10 working days to appeal is considered sanctions against an independent anti-corruption hearing officer. Castro did not appeal.

Depending on the time of the temporary suspension of service, it is considered an unqualified period. Castro has been temporarily suspended since November 7, 2024, so their suspension will end on November 6, 2030.

During the period of ineligibility, Castro is prohibited from any tennis match authorized or approved by members of ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, WTA, Australian Tennis, Fédération De Françaised de denis, Wimbledon and USTA) or USTA or any national association or any national association or any national association.
