The Rocky Mountaineer Adds New Routes for Summer 2025

Exploring Colorado has never been easier, thanks to two new travel packages from Rocky Mountaineer, a scenic rail tour company renowned for its routes through the Rocky Mountains and iconic glass-domed coaches. For the first time, the luxury line is offering shorter journeys on the “Rockies to the Red Rocks” route, which traditionally runs between Denver and Moab, Utah, with a stop in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

This June, the Rocky Mountaineer will run two shortened Rockies to the Red Rocks packages, both operating from Denver to Glenwood Springs and back, with two overnights in Glenwood Springs, a mountain town known for its plentiful hot springs and mountain views. The shortened routes are available exclusively for 2025.

The shorter of the two limited-time offerings is the Glenwood Springs Getaway Package, which includes two days aboard the Rocky Mountaineer and two nights in Glenwood Springs. The longer Glenwood Springs Classic Package includes two nights in Denver, one at the beginning and one at the end of the journey, and two nights in Glenwood Springs.

Both packages take travelers on a scenic route out of Denver and into the mountains. The train travels across the Continental Divide and along the Colorado River, ending with some of the state’s most spectacular canyon views.

But the journey is only half of it. Once you arrive in Glenwood Springs, you can explore one of the city’s many hot springs. The historic Glenwood Springs Hot Springs Resort has the world’s largest hot springs pool, and boasts five new “mineral baths.” And along the banks of the Colorado River sprawl the terraced hot spring pools of Iron Mountain Hot Springs, which include WorldSprings pools that mimic the mineral content of famous hot springs around the world, like the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.

For a natural, underground steam room experience, visit Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves, which is built into the mountain and has underground, vapor-filled caverns. These caves are one of only a few known natural vapor caves in North America that naturally let off therapeutic steam.

Glenwood Springs is also home to America’s only mountaintop theme park (with the highest looping roller coaster in the U.S.) and plenty of hiking. This includes the famous route to Hanging Lake, a travertine lake with waterfalls in Glenwood Canyon.

The new Glenwood Springs packages on the Rocky Mountaineer are available for select departures from June to August. It can be booked for either SilverLeaf or SilverLeaf Plus. All SilverLeaf guests are treated to panoramic views from the line’s iconic glass-domed coaches, gourmet meals, and drinks served at your seat. SilverLeaf Plus guests also get the same, plus exclusive lounge car access and higher-end alcohol, including locally-sourced wine and hand-crafted cocktails.
