U.S. couple killed in Mexico, found shot inside pickup truck: officials

Two Americans from California were found shot to death in a pickup truck in Mexico, officials said.

Authorities found Gloria, 50, Wednesday night while responding to reports of a shooting in Angamacutillo in the western state of Michoacán, Fox News affiliate KTTV said, citing the state Attorney General’s Office. · Ambriz and 53-year-old Rafael Cardona.

The couple was visiting family on vacation when a gunman opened fire near an intersection in a black 2016 Ford Platinum pickup truck.

Ambriz was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cardona died of his injuries shortly after being transported to a Pruandillo hospital, officials said.

Michoacán is listed as a “do not travel” location in Mexico, according to the U.S. State Department.

“Violent crimes such as homicides, kidnappings, carjackings, and robberies are common and common in Mexico,” the federal agency noted. “The U.S. government’s ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico is limited because U.S. government employees travel to certain areas. Travel is prohibited or restricted. In many states, local emergency services are limited to areas outside state capitals or major cities.”
