Trump demands action over New Jersey drone sightings
President-elect Donald Trump wants answers about a series of mysterious drone sightings over New Jersey and several other states.
“Mysterious drone sightings are happening all over the country. Is this really happening without our government’s knowledge? Let the public know, now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!
Trump has received classified intelligence briefings as part of the transition process between the incoming administration and President Joe Biden.
The federal government has provided few answers about drones. White House spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Thursday that they “cannot confirm any reported sightings.”
Lawmakers from both parties in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania have requested information from the Biden administration.
Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J., hinted at possible reasons but called for certainty on social media.
“The Secretary of Homeland Security gave a brief overview last week of the new technologies they are deploying, but we need to learn more about the results of these efforts and whether additional resources are needed,” he said in an X post on Friday that included what he witnessed Airplane footage. “If they haven’t fully identified the devices, we should still know what’s being done.”
The president-elect’s response echoed one he shared last year when a Chinese balloon entered U.S. airspace.
“If I were president, the Chinese would never float an airship (‘balloon’) over the United States!!!” he roared before the Biden administration shot down the balloon.
On the campaign trail, Trump took a particular interest in UFOs, claiming pilots who looked “like a beautiful Tom Cruise, but taller” confirmed the existence of alien aircraft to him during his first term .
“Very smart, very determined people say they believe there’s something out there, and you know, they may have a point,” Trump said in June.
