The government and market react to Trump’s actions

Mexico will wait until Sunday to introduce countermeasures to Donald Trump’s 25% tariff on its goods, the Mexican president said.
Sheinbaum said Tuesday that her country’s response will include both tariffs and non-tariff measures.
But she left the door and conducted further negotiations to eliminate the initial trade war, which highlighted the economic damage caused by tariffs and Mexico’s cooperation with the United States in response to fentanyl trafficking and organized crime.
The Mexican president condemned the reasons why the White House move was “offensive, slanderous and unsubstantiated”.
When the tariffs were announced the day before, the United States claimed that “Mexican drug trafficking organizations, the world’s leading fentanyl trafficker, have been unhindered due to their unbearable relationship with the Mexican government.”
Sheinbaum said she will call Trump this week, likely on Thursday.
