The commercial real estate market is recovering from the pandemic-induced lows in office rents. Marcus & Millichap CEO Hessam Nadji sat down with Catalysts co-hosts Seana Smith and Madison Mills to discuss the commercial real estate market and said the industry is about more than just office space.
“Because offices have changed in so many ways, the perception of the industry is very skewed,” Najib said, explaining that while office rents are weak, retail rents are booming. “We call retail the new apartments, the new office towers, the new retail. Because as you know, retail real estate and brick-and-mortar retail have been under tremendous pressure over the last 20 years due to e-commerce, and the industry has addressed that. , so many reimaginings and transformations of retail spaces have made the profession strong again.
