Alex Padilla asks Musk, OPM stops sending large-scale emails to employees

D-Cali. Senator Alex Padilla asked Elon Musk and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Charles Ezell to stop sending large-scale emails to employees.
Padilla said in an open letter released Thursday that although the executive branch was not subject to personnel action, several legislative departments and agencies have received a large number of emails.
“Not the White House [the Department of Government Efficiency] OPM also has no power or legal purpose to enable public emails to legislative offices and agencies that require employee information or threaten adverse personnel actions. ” Padilla said.
Last weekend, OPM sent a massive email to federal government workers asking them to summarize what they did with five bullet points last week. They must provide a response to the inquiry by 11:59 pm on Monday.

Padilla added that the emails were “especially about” because several executive agencies “even warned their employees not to respond to the messages because doing so would risk sensitive information falling into the hands of vicious foreign actors.”

“These massive emails are also beyond the scope of the administration, which is another sign of how Duge operates in an uninformed, misconductive and confusing way,” Padilla said.
