Former policeman “sells himself” to Bonnano’s criminal family: prosecutor

Mob justice is the coldest.
A curved Nassau County police detective detective provided Long Island with a mini-Moorish war among soldiers in Bonanno, which offered Long Island a mini-war – choosing “the public crime family he vowed to protect.” The court heard Tuesday.
Previous data. According to the Fed, Hector Rosario conspired to target rival Genovese mafia, which leaked after an unusual deal was reached by organized crime forces.
But Brooklyn federal prosecutors said in the allegedly dirty police trial that the peace did not last, and Rosario “selled himself to the Bonnanos, even in a fake police raid carried out by a secret casino carried out by prominent people.

“He and other men broke into the show like actual policemen, broke the gambling machine and sent a message,” Anna Karamigios, an assistant attorney in the Eastern Region, told the jurors.
Bonannos and Genovese (two of the five American Mafia families) remained in various fields in the 1980s and early 2000s, a long-time mob investigator said.
“No beef, nor did they sit down,” the investigator said. “In terms of business, they have no major plans to work together.
“At that time, the head of the Genovese family, ‘Chin’ (Vincent Gigante), disrespected (Bonanno Boss) Joe Messina, so he had nothing to do with him.”
Now, a two-week trial of Rosario is expected to be accused of obstructing a grand jury investigation and lied to the FBI – promising to uncover the secrets of the living mob underworld in New York.
Jurors on the first day of trial testimony were introduced to a Wiseguys from Sal Russo to “Sal the Shoemaker”.
They also learn about a series of zodiac signs of illegal gambling operations that lead to a thorough bust in 2022, surrounding eight so-called gangsters and Rosario, who are accused of attending the box office for $1,500 a month.
“He chose the criminal family rather than the public he vowed to protect,” Karamygis said.
According to trial testimony, the tempting evil side show at the time was something Bonanno Stooge came in handy sometime around 2012.

A former Bonanno soldier – 51-year-old Damiano Zummo – testified that the family had arranged with Genovese Brethren to share the profits of Gran Caffe, an ice cream shop in Lynbrook, a secret casino.
The store has two cards on the back, and a poker machine in a small room where Zummo, the first witness, was the first.
Zummo testified that the owner initially distributed 50-50 points in profits with a Genovese family member, but the arrangement ended when the thug was sent to prison.
Zummo said Bonannos was involved after the owner sought protection after he was beaten. He said they reached an uneasy deal with 25% profit per share, effectively making it a joint Bonanno-Genovese mob adventure.
Zummo said the understanding among mob families is that they cannot run competitive gambling stores within a 5-mile radius.
But tensions boil when a revelry gambler chooses to stop patronizing the ice cream shop and supports Saar’s shoe repair gambling.
The move led to the Bonanno family (making $10,000) “losing money,” Zummo said.
Bonanno Sal Russo wanted to use Rosario to “terrorize” the Genoese, he said.
Zummo testified: “Russo came up with the idea of a fake raid and I went all out.”

“To get Hector in there, Saar’s shoes repaired and terrorize them, hoping they’ll close.”
Zummo said Saar’s shoe repair had a card table in the back room with three and four gambling machines.
The fake raid on the shoe repair gambling study did not lead to any arrests or citations, prosecutors said.
Zummo said Rosario conducted an aborted raid at a coffee shop that was linked to the Gambling Den in the valley owned by the Gambino Family because it was less than a mile from the “Football Club”, a living room run by Bonanno, owned by Sal Russo.
But when Rosario and a few guys’ crew were unable to enter the gambling nest, the raid went south.
The reason is: it has a buzzer, they are not allowed to testify in it, Zummo.
Prosecutors said Rosario was “again” when he was pressured by the FBI in a 2020 interview, claiming he knew nothing about gambling dens.
Prosecutors said he also extracted information from a rival mob member from a law enforcement database and handed it over to the Bonanno family.

Zummo said that during the attack, the Bonanno family paid Rosario $1,500 a month, which lasted for “a few months.”
Zummo testified that Rosario also prompted him that he was investigating and “stay away from the phone” because “the FBI is listening.”
He testified that he thought Rosario was a “street guy.”
“The street guy means he has to break the law,” he said.
Zummo was arrested in 2017 with Russo in a drug trafficking program involving $40,000 in a Manhattan ice cream store.
Both are working with the federal government.
Rosario’s defense attorney Lou Freeman told jurors that the former policeman made false statements to authorities, but it was about a marijuana planting house in Queens, which was not important to the case.
He also argued that witnesses convicted of extortion, cocaine distribution and other serious crimes would testify against Rosario, who pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.
“Each of these witnesses is in organized crime,” he said.
Freeman said Sal Russo, who was once a “close friend” of Rosario, placed former Nassau police on the Fed’s radar in hopes of being more tolerant.
“You’ll hear Sal Russo constitutes information about Hector Rosario in order to add another gap to his belt because more gaps on the collaborative witness belts mean less time to go to jail,” Freeman said.
The Fed confirmed that they will call three cooperative witnesses during the trial resumed on Wednesday.
