Fresno State Basketball Players Bet in the Games They Play: Report

Fresno State men’s basketball is caught in a sports gambling scandal, and ABC 30 Action News learned that two of the three athletes suspected of betting on the game they played.
The Bulldogs pulled Mykell Robinson from the team while suspending alleged sports betting by defenders Jalen Weaver and Zaon Collins.
ABC 30 Action News reported that Robinson and Weaver bets, and their team will be based on the expected total points and rebounds. This is clearly a violation of the NCAA rules, which prohibit student athletes, coaches and sports staff from betting on games or providing information to any type of sports betting or people associated with any type of sports betting.

Federal investigation of college basketball players allegedly fixed the game: Report
ABC 30 Action News also reported that Fresno State men’s basketball head coach Vance Walberg was the one who discovered what his players called gambling and informed the college. After the initial internal investigation, the NCAA participated in its own investigation.
Fresno State told ESPN that Weaver and Collins “were rejected as the university reviewed the qualifications issue, so they were contested.”

Meanwhile, Robinson has not been on the team since January 11.
Fresno State Track and Field also told ABC 30 Actions News that it will no longer comment on the matter “at this time.”
