Should semiconductor companies change in 2025?
Semiconductor stocks experienced a mixed reaction in 2025, especially after China’s AI model DeepSeek shocked the market earlier this month.
Christopher Danely, head of Citi, US Semiconductor Research, explained to market movement and market dominance hosts Julie Hyman and Alexandra Canal. Semiconductor cycles are closely related.
“First of all, we start with the cycle because the cycle determines the overall movement of the semifinals to a large extent, and we’re still very positive about the cycle,” he said.
Danely highlighted the underperforming of companies like Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) and stressed that it “losts a major design victory from Broadcom (AVGO). He also sees hope in analog semiconductor names, such as Texas Instruments Incorporated (TXN).
“We may really be the beginning of the years of upscaling in the simulation [companies],” said Danley, stressing that these stocks are positioned for growth.
