Federal judge orders Trump administrators to comply with previous orders to lift foreign aid freeze
A federal judge ordered Trump administration officials on Thursday to comply with his previous orders to temporarily freeze almost all foreign aid and temporarily restore it to the global plan.

Despite the judge’s violation of the order, U.S. Agency for International Development Deputy Secretary Pete Marocco, Trump’s appointments and other senior officials “continue to avoid the blanket’s funding,” Ali said.
Still, a Washington, D.C. District Court judge rejected a request from nonprofits to conduct business with the U.S. International Development Agency to despise Trump administration officials.

Alibaba’s ruling was filed by a lawsuit by a nonprofit that challenged the Trump administration’s one-month foreign aid approaching through the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department, which closed $60 billion in annual aid almost overnight and development plans.
U.S. Agency for International Development staff and contractors said that even after Alibaba’s orders, the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development have not resumed payments, even if the government has already owed hundreds of millions of dollars.

Marocco and other government officials defended this week in a written debate with the judge. They argue that they can legally stop or terminate thousands of contract payments without violating the judge’s order.
The Trump administration said it is reviewing all State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development’s foreign aid programs case by case to see who meets the Trump administration’s agenda.

Aid organizations, current and former U.S.A.I.D. staff in interviews and court affidavits said the freeze and deep Trump administration’s purge of U.S.A.I.D. staff have stopped global foreign aid, forcing thousands of pieces layoffs and drive government partners into economic collapse.

So far, Doge claims to have saved about $55 billion through cuts by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of Education and the Consumer Financial Protection Agency. But many of Doge’s cost-cutting efforts have brought legal challenges.
