U.S. attorney in New York resigns after Donald Trump orders the mayor case to be removed

The federal prosecutor in Manhattan is one of the most powerful figures in U.S. law enforcement, resigning after the Trump administration ordered New York Mayor Eric Adams to abandon orders.

Danielle Sassoon, a senior prosecutor, took over as a U.S. attorney in southern New York with performance skills, according to a person familiar with the matter.
