U.S. Navy ships thwart Houthi attack in Gulf of Aden

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday that a U.S. Navy destroyer shot down Houthi missiles and drones for the second time in a month.
The US Navy said that on December 9 and 10, the USS Stockdale (DDG 106) and USS O’Kane (DDG 77) successfully defeated a series of weapons launched by the Houthi armed forces while transiting the Gulf of Aden.
While escorting U.S.-owned and operated commercial vessels, the ships successfully encountered and defeated multiple one-way attacks, unmanned aerial systems, and an anti-ship cruise missile.

It was the second attack in a month, the first taking place between November 30 and December 1, when the ships defeated an attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

U.S. personnel were not injured and the ship was not injured or damaged, Central Command added.
Attacks on shipping continue and the Houthis have vowed to continue their attacks until Israel ends its operations in Gaza.
