The holiday comes a year after the “People Still Show Up” singer finally divorced the songwriter. Ryan Hurd.
After five years of marriage, Morris filed for divorce in October 2023, which was eventually finalized in January 2024.
The two singers met at a songwriting session in 2014, tied the knot four years later, and welcomed their son Hayes in March 2020.
Morris opened up about running against each other with her ex in a candid podcast interview in September 2024.
“Things are going really well together,” Morris said during an appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast. “We’re doing the best we can in that way, but it’s still fresh.”
That same month, Morris shared about what it’s like dipping her toes into the dating scene, including joining exclusive dating app Raya last year after being bisexual.
“[I’m dating] “I mean, I’ve never really been in a relationship,” Morris said during a September 2024 appearance on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast. “Like, I had two long-term monogamous relationships with men. Wife relationship, I never really had this dating phase because I was always working [and] I ended up forming long-term relationships with the people I worked with or was close to. “
She added at the time: “A first date, for example, in your 30s, [joining app] Raya is wild. Like, I’ve had some good experiences, luckily, nothing crazy traumatic. “
The country singer said she’s enjoying the dating experience so far.
“Dating is great and fun right now, but I feel bad for saying that and it just gives me songwriting fodder,” Morris added on the podcast. “It’s like, ‘I’m sorry for using you.’ Like help me get into POV, like actor prep I’m going to approach. [acting]like a bad date, a good date [or] In between, that really gives me motivation. “
