Police say suspect robbed pool noodles at gunpoint

The suspect who robbed a Subway restaurant in Fair Park Monday night was armed with more than just a gun, according to Los Angeles police. He also waved green pool noodles.

Around 7:30 p.m., police received a call from the fast-food restaurant, located in a shopping center near the stadium at 1000 W. Martin Luther King Boulevard. Witnesses described an alleged armed robbery involving a white man dressed in all black and wearing a black ski mask.

Los Angeles Police Department spokesman David Cuellar said the suspect was armed with a gun and a pool surface. He added that it was uncommon for armed robbers to bring pool noodles.

“This is the first time I’ve heard of it,” Cuellar said.

Cuellar didn’t reveal any details about the pool noodles other than the color. He said the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen fleeing on foot eastbound on MLK Boulevard.
